Seasons & Cycles

Magical Missives are sent at the 8 Wheel of the Year Celebrations.  Connecting with the Seasons & Cycles reminds you to never lose your magic! Occasional extra emails may fly over when there is some timely bit of Wonder, Wisdom, & Whimsy that simply cannot wait, only things that pass our strict enchantment requirements will be sent.

Our seasons are part of an ongoing cycle of solstices, equinoxes, and their mid-points. Together these days make up the Wheel of the Year The mid-points of the solstices and equinoxes are called Imbolc,  Beltane,  Lughnasadh and Samhain.

Arranging one’s life to allow for creative pursuits is so much easier when working with the seasons and cycles.  Creative alchemy with the seasons reaps harvest. Then the seed, sprout and growth cycle continues.  Each phase of a plant’s life cycle corresponds to the seasons – to the 8 festivals of the Wheel of the Year.

The seeds (of intention) from Winter Solstice – Yule germinate by Imbolc and the first green shoots (or signs of progress) begin to push through at Ostara. By Beltane the buds are bursting (your intention has some result) and by Litha flowers are in full bloom (your idea/project has become tangible). At Lughnasadh (or Lunasa in Modern Irish) there is a transformation from flower to seed (you assess and re-tool your project) so that at Mabon the seeds (last bits, sparks of new projects, or just follow up) are ready to be sown. At Samhain the seeds are in the mulch awaiting the next cycle (your project is at completion and you are releasing it or preparing for another round of transformation.) Finally, at Yule, the seeds are ready to germinate once again.
